Trust Program (Chemical Dependency/Dual Diagnosis Program
Rivendell Behavioral Health Services is a Licensed Seven Challenges® Provider. The Seven Challenges® Program is designed for adolescent and young adult substance abusing or substance dependent individuals to motivate a decision and commitment to change. It helps young people look honestly at themselves, understand what it takes to give up a drug abusing lifestyle and prepare for and attain success when they commit to such change. The Seven Challenges® Program addresses the drug use behavior, the underlying causes (including psychological and co-occurring problems), and lifestyle isses. The TRUST name comes from Teenage Recovery, Understanding Sobriety through Treatment. The program offers: · Treatment of alcohol and chemical dependency issues within the context of addressing underlying mental health concerns. · Introduction to the 12-step model with particular emphasis on steps 1 through 3 and relapse prevention. Adolescents also attend on-site meetings facilitated by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. · Psycho-educational groups pertaining to drug education, social skills, life skills, and leisure skills. · A complete psychiatric evaluation to determine the need for medications to treat any psychiatric illness that may be present.
TREATMENT PLANNINGThe TRUST program relies heavily on the 12-step model of recovery. Because all adolescents in this program are dealing with similar issues, group activities focus on the treatment of mental health issues in the context of substance dependence. The TRUST program is tailored for adolescents 13 to 17 years old. The program is designed to last between 30 to 45 days, depending on the individual's need. All adolescents in this program have been diagnosed with a substance or polysubstance dependence. In addition, most adolescents in the TRUST program are also dealing with other mental health issues such as depression or anxiety. The team involved with the TRUST program is experienced in adolescent treatment with specific knowledge about adolescent substance abuse issues. The treatment team consists of the psychiatrist, the therapist, the case manager, the nurse, the recreation therapist, the teacher, and the direct-care staff (or MHA). The adolescent, parent/guardian, and referring agency are essential to this team as well. Each of these persons has a specific role and responsibility to help the adolescent achieve his/her treatment goals.
DISCHARGE PLANNINGEach adolescent is assigned a case manager who helps secure after-care services to continue the adolescent's treatment when they leave the hospital. When there is a professional already involved with the adolescent before admission, the referring professionals are also actively involved in the discharge process. A member of Rivendell's case management staff works directly with the treatment team to assist the families or guardians in obtaining the necessary aftercare services.
REFERRALSReferrals to the TRUST program can be made by physicians, therapists, psychologists, ministers, teachers, agencies, family members, or other concerned individuals. Often a referral for the TRUST program will come from a Department of Juvenile Justice worker or other court staff due to the adolescent's involvement with the judicial system. If an adolescent is 16 years old or older, a court order is often necessary to prevent the adolescent from prematurely ending their treatment. Referrals are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
ASSESSMENT SERVICESRivendell provides a level-of-care assessment at no charge. Each assessment is staffed with one of our physicians who provides a recommendation for the appropriate level of care for treatment. Recommendations are then discussed with the parent/guardian to assist in making an informed decision about treatment. Appointments may be scheduled by contacting the Assessment & Referral Department at Rivendell. In non-emergency situations, mobile assessments may be arranged in the patient's hometown or county. Emergency assessments are provided on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Please call 270.843.1199 or 800.548.2621 to schedule an assessment or for further information.
