ABOUT USCaring for at-risk Children and Adolescents Rivendell is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to adolescents and children who are seeking help. The 72-bed, JCAHO-accredited hospital is located on a 49-acre campus in the heart of south central Kentucky in Bowling Green. Patient care is administered by a team of qualified professionals. Rivendell provides progressive psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents who are experiencing symptoms of mental health problems. The facility includes an outdoor ropes course, two indoor gymnasiums, group areas, and educational classrooms. Individual semi-private bedrooms are equipped with a private bathroom and modest furnishings including a desk, bed, and wardrobe. Patient safety is a priority and Rivendell staff are trained to follow specific procedures to ensure a safe environment for all patients.
Rivendell is recognized in the State as a leader in the treatment of children and adolescents. Patients are referred to Rivendell from all across the State, particularly to the specialty programs that serve the unique treatment needs of children and adolescents.
Current programming provides for the special needs of mentally ill children and adolescents. The TRUST program treats adolescents who are dealing with chemical dependency and general psychiatric concerns. The Discovery program works with boys ages 8-12 who are displaying sexually inappropriate behavior. The Courage program treats adolescent males who have been charged with a sexual offense. The Choices program serves children ages 4-12 who are experiencing general psychiatric concerns. The New Directions program addresses the needs of adolescents who have general psychiatric issues.
The most beneficial impact that Rivendell hopes to provide is the positive emotional impact on the people that we serve. This impact has multiple facets, touching not only the lives of the persons with whom we are working directly, but also the families and other treatment provides who are collaboratively working to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk children and adolescents.
